Of course the Hyatt Gold Passport online system is down with only a few hours left to book your awards at the pre devaluation rates.
Luckily, you can still access the reservations page, select a points award, and use a separate log-in screen to redeem the awards. However, if like me you needed to transfer some Ultimate Rewards points over to Hyatt, your updated balance won’t reflect in the system due to the system maintenance and you’ll have to call in to make your reservations. It took a little bit more time than expecting (my fault for waiting until the last minute) but I’ve now made speculative bookings at a few of the “usual culprits”… essentially those properties moving from category 6 to 7 – Park Hyatt Sydney, Park Hyatt Paris, Park Hyatt Tokyo, and Park Hyatt Beaver Creek.
Why make guess bookings if you’re not sure of when or if you can travel? Why not! All the reservations I made are cancelable up to 24 or 48 hours prior to arrival. Better yet, you can change the dates and number of nights for any existing reservation at the OLD RATES until February 15th.
Still confused about the changes? Check out this post for full details and remember you must book before January 7th to lock in the current rates- Hyatt Announces Devaluations – Full Details…Any Upside?
