Yes, this post isn’t exactly points or travel related (though i do highly recommend the MacBook Air for frequent travelers), but I happened to be at the Grand Central Apple Store last night receiving a “jump-start” for my MacBook Air (it would not power back on and they literally jumped it with cables) and came across an interesting program. While I was waiting, one of the employees asked if I was aware of Apple’s recycling program. The program offers an Apple gift card for the value of your old devices and recently upped the rates for iPhones in anticipation of the September 12th iPhone 5 announcement. You can now get up to $345 back for an iPhone 4s 64GB device with lower amounts based on model, storage, and condition, all the way down to $55 for the 2009 iPhone 3G. If your thinking about getting the new model this is a great way to potentially cover the cost of the new phone or supplement an early termination fee. Full details and gift card estimates available here.

One word: eBay.
Bad prices.
I can get over $300 for my iphone 4 jailbroken in nyc.
Ebay.
Gazelle is good too. I just secured an offer for $180 for my iPhone 4 8gb and there is no commitment on my part. If I choose not to send it to them, then nothing happens.
@ FF University – Agreed, I’ve heard good things about Gazelle as well and there’s no obligation. Thanks!
A better deal is to sell it back to Amazon. They are offering up to $500 in Amazon credit for iPhone 4s. I used them to sell back an iPad and it worked very well.
@Dave – thanks, that sounds like a great deal!
