The winners have been announced for the 2016 Travel Photographer of the Year awards. The top prize went to Joel Santos who received £4,000 for his photos that included an aerial shot of Ethiopia’s Danakil Depression as well as a photo of a traditional fishing village in Ghana. The Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY) photo competition is “run by photographers for photographers”. All winning photos are set to be displayed at the UK City of Culture celebrations in Hull from May 18 to June 30, 2017 and in London at the University of Greenwich from August 4 to September 2017. North America was represented with a photo of New York during Winter Storm Jonas.
