It’s not that hard to live the hotel suite life. Have status with at least one hotel chain? Or have a credit card that comes with status?
Alright, hop onboard this hotel status match train with me. I promise it’s a fun ride.
How It All Started
Back in October, I boarded the status matching train that continues full speed ahead. The foundation of this hotel matching journey was using my mid-tier Marriott status to match to Wyndham.
With my status matches in place, I have been able to take advantage of awesome perks like complimentary hotel nights, lounge access, comped show tickets, free meals, and much, much more.
In this hobby, it always seems like those deals that are too good to be true vanish in the blink of an eye. While we never know when the plug might be pulled on this one, it has been available for almost six months and going strong.
How To Hotel Status Match: Wyndham & Caesars
Marriott Bonvoy [Insert Your Own Program Here]→ Wyndham Rewards → Caesars Rewards
My first article covered how I took my mid-tier Marriott hotel status and matched it over to top-tier Wyndham status. The key to this is Wyndham’s status match from multiple chains. Then, you also should be mapping that status over to Caesar’s Rewards Diamond.
One of the great things about Caesar’s Diamond is that lots of hotel chains are able to be matched over and not just one or two. Here are all the details on how to get this first step done.
How To Hotel Status Match: MGM, Hard Rock, & Hyatt
Caesars Rewards → MGM M Life → World of Hyatt → Hard Rock
The next step was making the journey to Atlantic City, which enabled me to status match to two other casinos and to another hotel chain, Hyatt. Here’s how it all went down.
Even More Perks For Caesars Diamond…
Although Hyatt indirectly devalued this match, Caesar’s stepped it up. At the end of 2018 they made it extra sweeter to earn Diamond status. This included free nights in Vegas, Atlantic City, Dubai, and more.
Earning Status The Hard-ish Way
If you don’t have any initial status to match over to Wyndham, you can always get Caesars Diamond the hard way. From there, you could match to the rest of the hotels mentioned above.

Credit Cards That Immediately Offer Hotel Status
If you don’t want to deal with any matching whatsoever, you can simply grab a credit card that comes with status as part of the perks.
All you need to do is pay the annual fee for these cards and reap the elite rewards (and start hotel status matching like a boss). Keep in mind these two cards have no spend requirement. There are several Marriott card options for status but there are minimums to be met.
- Hilton Diamond via the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card (Rates & Fees)
- Hilton Gold via the American Express Platinum (Rates & Fees)
- Marriott Bonvoy Gold via the American Express Platinum (Rates & Fees)
Am I Getting Off This Status Train?
Not even close! Just this week, I was able to book three consecutive comped nights on the Gulf Coast at the Beau Rivage. I’m even getting a $50 buffet comp while I’m there.
Even though I’ve had some amazing deals in my miles and points venture, this one might just prove to be the most lucrative one yet. Excuse me while I start working on my thank you letter to Wyndham for their initial match.

Keep in mind an elite status match for a hotel loyalty program is generally a once in a lifetime benefit. No need to grab a bunch of status levels at once if you have no opportunity to requalify for that elite level. Use status matches sparingly if you have years of travel planned.
I have been re-matching Hyatt Explorist (old school platinum status) to M Life gold for the last 3 years, still holding strong. Caesars Diamond status (from M Life gold in AC) match to Wyndam Diamond re-matching for the last 2 years. A never ending status match till they patch it, so I would actually jump on it while you still can.
Side note not regarding to this reply. The Caesars newly added 2 free nights in Dubai is only for people who “earned” Diamond status or higher. Matching and given status will not qualify. Flying to Dubai in April, was really hoping to stay at the Caesars Bluewaters for 4 nights.
Hey Ric,
Thanks for reading. Glad you’ve been doing this for a while as it gives me hope this will continue longer. Also, keep in mind the free nights only require earning 5000 tier credits to earn a free night. Therefore, you’d get 3 free nights if you go through the Diamond through earning.
It seemed quite a complicated to me, but it’s such an informative article! It really helped me out.
Its just owsome
Thanks for the article. I got Wyndham to match my Marriott Platinum Elite so got Wyndham Diamond. I then applied for a Caesars status match. The hiccup, however, is that Wyndham says they only do a status match once a year so no Caesars match approval. Seems a bit backwards as it should be Caesars matching Wyndham but Caesars keeps telling me to talk to Wyndham. Either I’m having multiple communication problems or Marriott to Wyndham to Caesars Diamond no longer works. Any advice appreciated. Shame I’m paying hundreds of dollars in resort fees when it seemed like a no brained status match.
Carrie, yours is the first I’ve heard of this problem. I’m confused about why Wyndham is saying your asking for a status match twice. Have you only been calling Caesars or have you spoken to someone in person about the match? I’ve found with Caesars I sometimes get better results from the supervisors at the Loyalty Desk.
I just got Wyndham to give me Diamond status match, then went to Caesars Rewards, logged in and applied to match with Wyndham. Got a message online that my account will reflect Diamond in 7 days.
