Planning Your Travels? My Top 3 Tips May Surprise You

by Shelli Stein

You may have already started your summertime travels or you may still be in preparation mode. You’ve booked a wonderful holiday with an awesome use of your miles and points. Check! Hotel stays are paid for with targeted spending on your credit cards. Check! You’ve picked out which airport lounge you’ll visit. Check! So now it’s time to check off those smaller tasks from your to-do list.

Here are my top three tips for what may seem like less important travel preparations. However, they help me feel less stressed, which means more time and attention goes towards enjoying my travels.

Here’s an example: finding sample sizes that are perfect for your travels isn’t always easy. Sure, you can buy those empty plastic tubes and fill them with your products from home, but I’ve got another idea for you.

Is Your Skin Summer-Ready For Travels?

Traveling wreaks havoc on your skin. Being in airplanes, what you eat, or how well you sleep all take their toll. When traveling you can get off track with so much going on, causing you to fall out of your skincare routine.

If like me you care about what you put on your skin, then Annmarie Skin Care products are for you. If you’ve been a reader for a while, you’ve heard me mentioned them before. Their products keep your skin well-hydrated and healthy. All their offerings use non-toxic ingredients!

They have a summer package of sample-sizes perfect for traveling. Here’s everything it includes:

  • Sun Love – Everyday Sheer Sunscreen: Infuse your skin with antioxidant-rich buriti fruit, pumpkin seed, and hemp seed oil to nourish and visibly enhance your glow, while protecting your skin from UV rays, and adding deep moisturization.
  • Aloe Herb Cleanser: Cleanse and lift excess oil with this pH-balanced, aloe vera-based cream cleanser.
  • Anti-Aging Serum: This versatile, aloe vera-based serum provides active nutrients for all skin types, firming and tightening the appearance of aging skin.
  • Anti-Aging Facial Oil: This luxurious, herb-infused formula delivers intense moisture to keep dry and mature skin supple and dewy.

Is Privacy Important To You?

Protecting your skin isn’t the only protection you need when traveling.

When I travel, staying connected is always a huge priority to me, so finding free, reliable Wifi is important. Unfortunately, public Wifi in hotels, restaurants, and public spaces is just not safe. You never know who is connected to the Wifi network and if they are intercepting your data and personal information.

I don’t know about you, but I’m obsessive about my computer and my data staying safe!

When I hear about the numbers of people who don’t use a VPN (Virtual Private Network), those statistics baffle me. Especially if you’re someone who travels.

Last I read, less than 10% of computer owners use these services on a regular basis.

Let me explain more about what a VPN is and what it does.

I’ve been using this service for years now. A VPN is a service that encrypts all of your incoming and outgoing data. I have used ExpressVPN at home and also when I’m away from home and I am thrilled with their product. I’ve recommended ExpressVPN to so many people.

I certainly can understand the confusion that sets in and leads to not being able to make a choice when you look at the various VPN solutions. At some point, though, you have to settle on one choice.

Putting your online privacy at risk makes no sense. If you’re not using a VPN, maybe it’s time!

Expired Credit Cards and Pesky Foreign Transaction Fees, NOT!

This tip may seem obvious, but hopefully it’s a gentle reminder.

Recently I ran into some issues with both expired credit cards and expired debit cards. I’m still trying to figure out why the credit card companies didn’t send me replacement cards.

And I’ll admit to at least once or twice using a credit card that had foreign transaction fees because I wasn’t paying attention.

Check all your credit and debit cards before you start your travels. Remove those cards you won’t be using from your wallet. We’re all in the habit of pulling out certain cards for certain categories of spend. But managing your credit cards changes when traveling!

What tasks do you pay attention to before traveling that may seem small but can impact your trip, turning a fun time into a frustrating one?
