How To Transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards for Hyatt Free Nights

Much of what we write at PointMeToThePlane is about using points and miles to get primo seats on planes. That’s “the point”, I suppose. However, overlooking hotel stays as a great use of points and miles is a mistake.

Not only do points transferred to hotels return incredible value at some of the best properties in the world, hotel stays are generally more predictable than business or first class award flights.

Hyatt is a Chase Travel Partner

Chase’s travel partner, Hyatt, is one of my favorites. I use Chase’s Ultimate Reward points when either I don’t have any points in my Hyatt account or when I need to bring my Hyatt points to a certain number in order to book my Hyatt hotel stays.

In other words, Chase points can be combined with World of Hyatt points, like those points you’ll receive as a welcome bonus on the World of Hyatt credit card, at a 1:1 ratio.

Once you know how to transfer points to World of Hyatt, which happens instantly, you’ll be set because the process to transfer points to any of Chase’s other airline or hotel partners is the same.

How to Transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards Points to Hyatt

Chase Ultimate Rewards points are my favorite points currency. Because of Chase’s great selection of points transfer partners, I create value from using them. Hyatt has beautiful properties around the world that create an excellent return in value on Ultimate Rewards points. Though I may be stating the obvious, check on your Hyatt hotel choice availability to make sure it’s available on points.

It’s best to transfer only the amount of points you need to Hyatt (or any of Chase’s transfer partners). Your points will retain their value as Chase points. If a loyalty program devalues their points, your points would lose value if they’re sitting in the account of that program.

Before you can transfer Ultimate Reward points, make sure you have completed the following:

1. You must have a Hyatt Gold Passport number. If you don’t, you can sign up for free.

2. You must have a credit card that earns Chase Ultimate Rewards that are transferable to travel partners. These cards include the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Reserve and Ink Business Preferred cards. If you have Ultimate Rewards points from other cards, like Chase Freedom, you can combine them to transfer.

You can then access all the Ultimate Rewards tools through the Chase.com website. If you haven’t set up your online access yet, simply go to the homepage, choose the “not enrolled” option and follow each step to set up your username and password.

Having access to Chase.com isn’t necessary, though. For those who prefer voice interaction, points can also be transferred over the phone through the Chase Sapphire Concierge.

Once these two steps are done, you’re ready to transfer your Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt.

There are two ways to access the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal.

1. From your Chase online account page, click on the blue “Go to Ultimate Rewards” link in the top right corner. The link is inside a small gray box that shows your total points available.

OR

2. Go directly to the Chase Ultimate Rewards Portal and use your Chase username and password to log in.

Great, now you’re logged in. If you have more than one Ultimate Rewards earning credit card, you’ll be prompted to choose which Chase credit card points balance you want to access. If you have only one Chase credit card that earns Ultimate Rewards points, you’ll be taken directly to the main screen.

Click the dropdown arrow next to “Use Points” and select the “Transfer to Travel Partners” option from the menu.

The next page on your screen will list all of Chase’s airline and hotel travel partners. Scroll down to the list of hotels. Chase’s hotel transfer partners are Hyatt, IHG, Marriott, and Ritz-Carlton.

By clicking on the arrow next to the “Transfer Points” button, the Hyatt row in the chart will drop down and show additional information. You’ll see all the Hyatt brands of hotels, and in the bottom left corner is the information that Chase Ultimate Rewards points will transfer to your World of Hyatt account. In most cases they transfer instantly!

Next, click the “Transfer Points” button in the Hyatt row on the chart. At this point, you’ll be prompted to enter in your Hyatt Gold Passport number.

Chase allows Ultimate Rewards points to be transferred to a loyalty account belonging to the primary card holder and one authorized user who lives in the same household. For business cards, like the Chase Ink Preferred Business Credit Card, points may be transferred to the primary card holder and one authorized user who is also an owner of the business.

Select the recipient or type in the name of the person who receives the points being transferred. Enter the Hyatt Gold Passport number twice to confirm. Then, click “Continue.”

You’re Almost Done

On the next screen, type in the number of points you’d like to transfer from your Chase account to Hyatt. Points can be transferred in increments of 1,000.

Continue onto the next screen. You’ll have the opportunity to review your transaction once more before completing it.

On this final page, review everything carefully. Make sure your Hyatt Gold Passport member number is correct. Make sure you have typed in the correct amount of points to transfer. All transfer transactions are final and cannot be reversed.

Make Sure To Review Your Work

If everything is correct, click the green “Confirm & Submit” button. After a few seconds, you will see a “Congrats!” page confirming the transfer was a success.

Knowing how to transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards for free Hyatt nights isn’t that complicated, is it? It’s always good to take a look at your Hyatt account to see the points balance in your account. You’ll notice the increase. Remember, World of Hyatt points transferred from Ultimate Rewards show up instantly!
