Breaking: Iran Mistakenly Shot Down Ukrainian 737-800

CBS News is reporting that Iran mistakenly shot down the Ukrainian plane that crashed near Tehran on Wednesday with 176 people on board. CBS says that US officials are confident Iran shot down passenger jet and that the 737-800 was hit by a missile. Newsweek is reporting that the plane was hit by a Russian Tor missile.

U.S. intelligence picked up signals of a radar being turned on, sources told CBS News. U.S. satellites also detected two surface-to-air missile launches, which happened shortly before the plane exploded, CBS News was told.
