Airline Route announced this morning that Asiana will begin 3-class B-777 service to JFK from July 22nd onwards. The 3-class 777-200ER aircraft will feature Asiana’s First Suite Class (FSC). FSC includes a completely private two-door suite, 32″ HD displays, private mini-bar, a 7 foot fully-flat bed, pajamas, and Bvlgari travel kit. You can check out the Asiana First Suite experience here.
So how is the award availability using United or US Airways miles? Excellent…if you are traveling alone! There is one seat available in first class on several dates in July and August and several days per week in September, October, and November. Of course, from ICN you can connect to destinations all over the Asia-Pacific region using Asiana or the other Star Alliance carriers.

Nice find Adam!
I have a flight booked ICN-JFK on the 21st in thr old first class, guess I miss this my 1 day?
@Jon – Looks that way…any flexibility on your dates??
Flew this product from ORD couple weeks ago. Absolutely fantastic.
Great find Adam, THANK YOU!
Dates are flexible but I would need two seats in O class..
Just booked the new First Suite to Seoul connecting via Star Alliance to Sydney. THANKSSSSS
Any idea if their pulling these planes from the ORD-ICN route? I’m booked in FSC for our honeymoon in September, and I am really hoping they don’t pull the rug out from under us.
@Matt M – Rumor is that they are coming off one of the ICN-BKK legs, though no one is really sure. Airline Route.net should have any updates but I’ll shoot you an email if I hear anything. Enjoy your honeymoon!
Much, much appreciated! I’ve been pretty worried since there’s been a lot of rumors on Flyertalk of the planes on the ORD-ICN going back to the old F or even worse, 2 class.
Also just confirmed with a call to Asiana that my flight has been changed to the old ‘F’. I also don’t see any availability on the United website for award flights on the JFK->ICN route for that day. Looks like I might be out of luck.
Bummer 🙁 Maybe something will open on the JFK flight (although I wouldn’t hold my breath.) :/
@Matt M – That is a huge bummer, especially for your honeymoon! Did you book the ticket using United miles? Perhaps, we can look for other F options to get you to your ultimate destination. Feel free to email me at adam@pointmetotheplane.com
Thanks Adam. I sent you an email. Much appreciated!
@mattm — The ORD service is reverting to the old configuration 772 effective September 17th when service increases to 5x a week. If you’re booked before the 17th you should be fine!

Of course I am booked on 9/23. Damn.
What are my options now? The JFK route?
i cannot see the chart you displayed. can you tell me how to get that segment on ua.com?
@dave – I used the multi segment option and the entered each segment, the first segment which is displayed is for a JFK-ICN search. Let me know if that helps.
We are booked in first on ord-icn on July 22 with united award. Is this changing to the old that very day?
I’m booked on ORD-ICN September 30th. Major bummer.
I could try to re-route myself through JFK but I’m not sure it’s worth it. Asiana’s “old” first class is still pretty decent, right?
For product sampling, I believe their suite can be sampled on the short ICN-NRT route as well, for another day.
Decided to rebook myself JFK-ICN. Really hoping it’s a phenomenal product so I don’t regret having to get myself to JFK.
@Ben Hughes – Nice! I booked myself one as well. I’ll be trying it out in Sept.
@Ben Hughes – Glad you went for the re-route, hopefully everything goes smoothly!
BenH,
OZ’s old first is probably already far superior to UA’s so called GlobalFirst
i have a friend who is Korean and he absolutely swears by OZ and KE.
[…] Not sure when your summer flight from ORD-ICN; but you might want to be aware starting on July 22, the First Class "Oz Suites" will be moving to JFK-ICN. References: http://airlineroute.net/2013/03/18/oz-jfk-s13/ http://boardingarea.com/pointm…-availability/ […]
